Nebraska Farmers Can Win Donations for Local Nonprofits

Local farmers who are over age 21 and farm 250 acres or more are eligible to win a $2500 donation they can direct to their favorite nonprofit organization.

Angela Allen, Community Outreach Manager for America’s Farmers, says one winner will be drawn from each eligible county in the state.

A winner will also be drawn from entries submitted by farmers who don’t live in eligible counties.

Allen says some of the most common types of nonprofits farmers like to donate to include emergency response organizations, schools and youth agriculture programs.

She says all monies are awarded through the Monsanto Fund, a philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company.

"Their main mission is to strengthen farm communities where farmers and our own employees live and work.  This is really part of our effort to do that.  And so each year, through the Grow Communities program, we give more than 3 million dollars to farm communities to help support local nonprofits.”
