Nebraska financial adviser buys firehouse for his business

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A financial adviser in Omaha has bought a deactivated firehouse as the future home for his financial management business.

Station No. 4 was recently purchased for about $350,000 at auction by 40-year-old Scott Sladovnik. The Omaha World-Herald reports that the founder of W.I.T. Capital Management had been eyeing the building for about 20 years. Sladovnik first encountered the station while he was a college student. Sladovnik and Alley Poyner Macchietto Architecture hope to keep the building as close to its original 1913 look as possible during the restoration process.

The old fire house also used to house an armored car business and a storage business as well.

Sladovnik and his partners are considering using the space for a speak-easy, retail and condos in addition to W.I.T.'S offices. The building process is expected to take several years.
