LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Republican Party has filed a complaint against an Omaha state senator alleging he violated campaign regulations.
The complaint filed Wednesday contends that Sen. Rick Kolowski's re-election campaign offered $5 ride coupons during an Aug. 27 Millard Days event in an attempt to influence voters. It also alleges the coupons did not contain a necessary legal disclaimer.
Kolowski says his campaign consulted with the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission before the event, and he's confident the complaint will be dismissed.
He says his campaign purchased a $500 ride sponsorship for the Millard Days Parade, which is available to any group, and received 1,000 discounted ride coupons that his volunteers gave to children.
Kolowski, a Democrat, is running against Republican challenger Ian Swanson for the officially nonpartisan legislative seat.
