Nebraska high court upholds ex-prison guard's conviction

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a former Nebraska prison guard for having a sexual relationship with a woman on parole.

Anoroy Loyuk appealed after he convicted last year of sexual abuse of an inmate or parolee and sentenced to 18 months' probation.

Court records show Loyuk was employed as a prison guard when he ran into the woman, who was on parole, at a grocery store, and the two began an intimate relationship. Court records say Loyuk had no authority over the woman while she was a parolee.

On Friday, the Nebraska high court rejected Loyuk's arguments that the state law defining sexual abuse of an inmate or parolee is overbroad and vague and violated his constitutional rights.
