Nebraska lawmakers hear testimony on alcohol retailer certification training

Nebraska’s alcohol retailers might have to put their employees through certification training if LB 444 wins legislative approval.

The General Affairs Committee heard testimony Monday about the bill that would also require employees 21 and over to supervise sales by workers who are underage. Sen. Bob Krist of Omaha says the bill aims to prevent 19 and 20-year-old employees from being peer pressured into selling their friends alcohol.

The committee also heard testimony on a bill that would increase the tax on beer by five cents a gallon to a total of 36 cents.
