Nebraska Legislature returns to session

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – Nebraska lawmakers are now back in Lincoln for a 60 day work session. State Senator Gwen Howard of Omaha says her priorities this session are education, family and safety issues. Howard hopes an anti-school bullying bill she proposed last session will make it through the Legislature. She's also supporting a measure that would penalize adults who smoke in their vehicles when a child under 16 is present. Another piece of legislation would give parents who adopt children a $500 tax credit. Senator Howard says the tax credit would be placed in the Nebraska College Fund.
