Nebraska’s Lieutenant Governor has resigned from his position.
Lavon Heidemann announced this morning that he’s resigning, and also stepping aside as running mate of GOP gubernatorial candidate Pete Ricketts. The announcement comes one day after news that an order of protection was filed against Heidemann following a dispute with his sister.
Governor Dave Heineman says he met with Heidemann late Monday night, and the Lieutenant Governor said he would resign. Heineman called it an “unfortunate situation.”
The Governor says he didn’t ask for Heidemann’s resignation.
