Nebraska small businesses get support for export activities

The state of Nebraska exported $7.9 billion in goods last year.

Some Nebraska small businesses will get federal support for activities that help them reach out to export markets. Nebraska received $300,000 from the Small Business Administration for export-related activities.

Leon Milobar, director of the SBA’s Nebraska office, says Nebraska small businesses export a variety of goods, including farm equipment, scientific instruments, and boom trucks.

The funding can be used to help with the costs of foreign trade missions or outreach to international markets. Milobar says small businesses receiving the support must have the capability and finances to export.

“The company’s got time, effort, and their own money involved in it. And we are just providing that extra incentive for them to go ahead and expand in to international markets. We believe it’s beneficial for us here in the state and the United States to go ahead and do that.”

Milobar expects about 25 to 30 Nebraska small businesses will benefit from the SBA funding.
