Nebraska tax receipts in November higher than projected

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska's state government tax collections in November were more than 1 percent higher than expected.

The Department of Revenue reported Thursday that the state's net tax receipts were $370 million, which 1.2 percent higher than the certified forecast of $365 million.

Net sales-and-use taxes were lower than expected, but individual income, corporate income and miscellaneous tax receipts came in higher.

The comparisons are based on a state forecast approved in October by the Nebraska Economic Forecasting Advisory Board.

Nebraska faces a projected $110 million budget shortfall that lawmakers will have to address as they balance the budget in next year's legislative session. The forecasting board will meet again in February to update its forecast.
