Nebraska, W. Iowa VA to Host Veterans' Town Hall Tuesday

The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System will hold a Veterans’ Town Hall tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6:30.

Will Ackerman, Director of Communication, says the meetings are held once a month at various locations.

Ackerman says it’s an opportunity for VA leadership to be able to talk about what’s new in the VA, what’s currently going on and to answer questions from veterans.

At tomorrow’s meeting, Ackerman says they will specifically discuss two newer programs that have been started within the healthcare system.

"One is called Same Day Access, which is where veterans who don’t have urgent issues or who don’t have an appointment – maybe they come in to the Omaha VA and go to the Same Day Access clinic and are seen for non-emergency issue - so we will be talking about that.  And the other thing is called Veteran Appointment Request App.”

Ackerman says the app allows you to directly schedule and access appointments with the VA.

He says right after the meeting, representatives from various VA programs will be available to provide assistance to veterans who may not be enrolled in the health care system.

The VA Town Hall takes place tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at the VA located at 4101 Woolworth Avenue.
