Nebraskan convicted on Iowa child sex abuse case

GLENWOOD, Iowa (AP) — A Nebraska man has been convicted of sexually abusing girls ages 7 and 8 in western Iowa.

The Daily Nonpareil says (http://bit.ly/1psDQ6e ) 64-year-old John Schondelmeyer, of Bellevue, Neb., was found guilty of two counts of sex abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child. Schondelmeyer faces up to 25 years in prison on each count of abuse and 10 years on each count of lascivious acts. His sentencing is scheduled for April 14.

The Mills County Sheriff's Office says Schondelmeyer was in the process of moving to Fayetteville, N.C., when he was arrested Oct. 17, 2013, at his Nebraska home.
