Nebraska's Long Range Transportation Plan Available for Comment

The Nebraska Department of Roads has posted a draft of Vision 2032, the state’s new long-range transportation plan.

The public is encouraged to review the plan and make comments through May 11th.  Spokesperson Mary Jo Oie says the department has been working on the plan for months.

She says the planning division has reached out to groups and individuals statewide to update Nebraska’s 20 year long-range transportation plan.  Oie says with more than 10,000 miles of state highway, it is difficult to know what the priorities should be.  She says one major challenge is funding.

"And also to look at transit and rail.  We are not a rail association but we are a liaison with rail, you know what our rail needs in the state are.  Pedestrians, bicycling, freight movement, all those items affect the transportation users in the state of Nebraska with our road system.”
