Omaha, NE – A new Farmers Market is open in north Omaha.
The market is adjacent to the Charles Drew Health Center, at 29th and Grant Streets. It'll be open every Wednesday from 3 to 6:30 pm through mid-October.
Heidi Walz, project manager for Omaha Farmers Market, says the newest market brings fresh produce to an underserved area of the community. CDHC CEO Richard Brown says before the Farmers Market, north Omahans would have to travel outside the area to get fresh fruits and vegetables.
The Charles Drew Farmers Market accepts WIC and SNAP benefits in addition to cash.
