New library combines education, creativity

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – University of Nebraska-Omaha and KANEKO officials are celebrating the opening of a new creative library.

The library is housed inside KANEKO at 12th and Jones Streets in Omaha's Old Market. The goal of the library is to combine education and creativity. Officials hope that leads to creation of new products, new ideas and new ways of doing business.

Steve Shorb is Dean of UNO's Criss Library. He says the library will be free to UNO students and faculty. Memberships will be offered to the public. He says UNO plans to offer classes at the library. It could also be used for meetings and events.

The library is 3,000 square feet. There are reference materials, digital workstations and two videoconferencing areas. Eventually the library will house 10,000 volumes of work.

An Open House is scheduled from 4 to 7 PM Saturday at KANEKO.
