Newly-formed group seeking to have a role in Omaha's future

Omaha, NE – A newly-formed community group is seeking to have an active role in Omaha's future.

VOICE OMAHA was formed about a month ago. The organization has six core values: community involvement and engagement; transparency; equal opportunity and social mobility; advocacy for arts and culture; sustainability; and smart urban development. Those issues were identified by the steering committee as being the most important to the Omaha community.

Steering Committee member Mary Palu says although the group wants to be politically active in Omaha, VOICE has no political affiliation. Rather, she says they want to work with candidates and elected officials to help craft policies that would benefit all Omahans.

Palu says 460 people are signed up right now to join the organization. For more information log on to www.voiceomaha.org.
