No clear winner yet in Nebraska's Second Congressional District race

There is no declared winner yet in the race for Nebraska's Second Congressional District.

As of 2 am Wednesday, Democratic candidate Brad Ashford led incumbent Republican Lee Terry by a margin of 48 percent to 46 percent. About three-thousand votes separate the candidates. The Associated Press says the race is too close to call.

If Ashford is declared the winner, it'll be the first time since 1994 that a Democrat has represented the Second Congressional District. Terry was elected to the U.S. House in 1998.

Douglas County Election Commissioner Dave Phipps says there are 15,000 early voting ballots left to count. The earliest those votes will be counted is Friday.

First District Congressman Jeff Fortenberry and Third District Congressman Adrian Smith, both Republicans, easily won re-election to their seats.
