No Nebraska, Iowa Guardsmen among the dead or wounded at Ft. Hood, Texas

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – 70 Nebraska Army National Guardsmen stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas are safe following a mass shooting there Thursday afternoon.

Associated Press reports say the shootings began about 1:30 PM in a personnel and medical processing center at the base. Twelve people are reported dead and more than 30 injured.

A spokesman for the Nebraska Army National Guard says members of the Lincoln-based 313th Medical Company are currently training at Ft. Hood for deployment to Iraq. All 70 soldiers are safe.

An Iowa National Guard spokesman says none of that state's Guardsmen are currently training at Ft. Hood.
