Nominations being accepted for the 2012 Governor's Arts Awards

Omaha, NE – The Nebraska Arts Council, Nebraskans for the Arts and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment are seeking nominations for the 2012 Governor's Arts Awards.

Marjorie Maas, spokesperson with Nebraskans for the Arts, says award categories include outstanding artist, excellence in arts education and partner in the arts. She says winners will each receive a special piece of artwork at a dinner on Monday, April 2nd, 2012.

Maas says the awards celebrate those who have contributed to the cultural landscape of the state.

"Nebraskans for the Arts aims to put art at the center of life and learning for all Nebraskans. That means, we advocate for arts funding for the state but also arts education throughout the state."

The deadline to enter the 2012 Governor's Arts Awards competition is November 15th. Details are available online at Nebraskartscouncil.org.
