Noted Masonic Author to keynote Conference

The 59th annual Midwest Conference on Masonic Education is starting Friday, April 25th, in Omaha. Noted author and Masonic historian, S. Brent Morris will speak on the relevance of this organization in the 21st century.By Keith Neisler

Omaha, NE – For those who are unfamiliar with the work of the Masonic Fraternity, the idea of Masonic education may lead one to think of the many conspiracy theories that have been highlighted in books and film. However, from the organization's standpoint, it is a way to learn how to apply the tenets of the institution in everyday life.

That is the goal of the 59th Annual Midwest Conference for Masonic Education being held in Omaha this weekend. The theme is "Masonry is a Progressive Science: Relevance of Masonry in the 21st Century." Masons from around the region will meet at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center to discuss these topics.

To bring a national perspective to this topic, S. Brent Morris, author of "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Freemasonry" and managing editor of the Scottish Rite Journal, will be the keynote speaker.

In this interview, Prof. Morris answers many questions about the relevance and supposed "secrets" of this ancient order.

More information is available at Scottish Rite website or at the website for the Midwest Conference on Masonic Education.

Keith Neisler is Station Manager of KIOS-FM and a member of Nebraska Masonic Lodge #1, Omaha, NE.
