Omaha, NE – A Notification of Unusual Event is no longer in place at Brownville's Cooper Nuclear Station.

NPPD officials issued that notification when Missouri River floodwaters began to rise within a few feet of the nuclear station. NPPD spokesman Mark Becker says with river levels dropping, the notification is no longer needed.

Becker says some barricades and sandbags will be removed in certain areas around Cooper Nuclear Station. But he says other measures will stay in place until the river returns to what NPPD considers normal operating levels.

Becker says Cooper Nuclear Station is operating safely and at full power. He says workers at the plant constantly monitor the Missouri River level regardless of a flood threat.

The Missouri River is six feet above flood stage at Brownville.
