November's Press Club Noon Forum focused on "The Future of Omaha's Library"

Omaha Public Library Marketing Director Emily Getzschman was the guest at last month’s Omaha Press Club.

Getzschman’s Noon Forum presentation focused on “The Future of Omaha’s Library.”

During her talk, Getzschman talked about how the libraries of the future will serve Omaha families as well as how the library’s public and private funding will need to evolve to meet future needs.

Getzschman also discussed facility changes that will be needed over the next two decades in order to better serve Omaha and Douglas County residents.

"This is a 20-year plan we are talking about.  It won’t happen all at once.  It’ll happen over the next 20 years, projecting for future growth of Omaha and the surrounding area.  So the very first recommendation is build a new Southwest Branch in the area of 180th and Q to alleviate the traffic at the Millard Branch and serve the growing westward population.”

You can hear the Omaha Press Club Noon Forum on the Future of Omaha’s Library in its entirety on Monday, January 15th here on KIOS.
