NRCS has Local Working Group Meetings Planned

The Natural Resources Conservation Service, or NRCS, has set up a local work group to look at priorities for USDA conservation programs across the state.

Neil Jensen, District Conservationist with the NRCS, says meetings will take place throughout Nebraska based on the natural resource district boundaries.

Jensen says the purpose of the meetings is to seek public input on the priority of money being spent in various programs.

He says some of the programs that will be discussed include the conservation stewardship program and the agricultural conservation easement program.

"In Nebraska we have $45-75 million dollars for farmers and ranchers throughout Nebraska and they can give recommendations on special target areas, cost share rates, which practices would they like to see funded.”

The Papio-Missouri River District public input meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 29th from 9 to Noon at the USDA Service Center in Blair.
