NWS to survey damage caused by two tornadoes

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – The National Weather Service says Monday's severe weather spawned at least two tornadoes.

One was reported at 4:45 PM near Eagle in Cass County, Nebraska. That storm injured eight people, including five who were in a vehicle when the tornado hit. The second tornado touched down northwest of Missouri Valley, Iowa about six PM. That tornado blew rail cars off their tracks near Modale and also overturned semis on Interstate 29. NWS officials say both tornadoes came from one storm. That storm brought hail, high wind and reports of funnel clouds as it passed over the Omaha metro area.

Weather Service officials plan to survey the damage Tuesday, along with the damage caused by a possible tornado in Montgomery County, Iowa Monday night.
