Omaha, NE – Father Timothy Lannon was last month's guest speaker at the Omaha Press Club forum.

Father Lannon was appointed president of Creighton University July 1st of this year.

Before coming to Creighton, Father Lannon served as President of Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia for eight years. Father Lannon said he's excited to be back in Omaha.

He graduated from Creighton in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. Father Lannon says Creighton had a record enrollment this year. Additionally, Creighton has a commitment to undergraduate education as a comprehensive university and is the 13th largest employer in the state.

"The impact that we have in the community is great. As you can see, $47 million in terms of charity care for our patients. And also too, the brain gain. More and more of our students are coming from outside the state of Nebraska. So you can see 62% of our students are from outside the state. And then look how we populate the state though in terms of the percentages of physicians, dentists, pharmacists and OT people in the state of Nebraska."

Father Timothy Lannon's presentation will air on KIOS at Noon on Monday, November 14th.
