Offutt AFB prepares for Air Force Week in the Heartland

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – Offutt Air Force Base is preparing to host its first Air Force Week.

Air Force Week in the Heartland kicks off Saturday with opening ceremonies at Rosenblatt Stadium. Concerts, Air Force movies and exhibits, the seven-mile Bellevue/Offutt Runway Run and faith-based outreach are some of the events scheduled for the week, which ends August 17.

55th Wing Vice Commander Colonel Rob Maness says no Air Force Base in the region has hosted an Air Force Week.

Air Force Week ends with the Defenders of Freedom Open House and Air Show, August 16 and 17. Colonel Maness says it's an opportunity for the public to visit Offutt, see equipment up close and meet the Airmen.
