Ohio educator to lead Nebraska medical school

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The chancellor of the medical college at the University of Toledo has been named to lead the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

The selection of Doctor Jeffrey Gold was announced Wednesday by the president of the University of Nebraska system, James Milliken.

Gold's selection faces a vote Friday by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

Gold would be replacing Doctor Harold Mauer, who announced in September that he would be leaving the chancellor's post to raise money for UNMC's cancer center.

Gold's starting salary would be $775,000, plus standard university employee benefits.
