Omaha B-Cycle Expands

Omaha B-Cycle is expanding to offer service in Council Bluffs.  With the new service comes a name change.

Ben Turner is Program Director of Heartland B-Cycle. He says there will be four stations in downtown Council Bluffs and two along the Council Bluffs riverfront.

Additionally, about ten new stations will be in downtown Omaha and three to four more between Aksarben Village and downtown Omaha.

"There are 40+ bike sharing programs throughout the country right now and only two of them are in multiple states.  We are one of them.  And it really wouldn’t happen without the vision of our local partners.  Without people like that in our community who are supportive of innovative and interesting ideas, and really are striving to connect us into one metro area, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

Turner says the new stations are expected to be installed by the end of next month.  He says bikes may be picked up or dropped off at any of the B-Cycle locations.

Heartland B-Cycle offers three types of access passes: 24-hour, 30 day and yearly.  For more information, the website is heartland.bcycle.com.
