Omaha, Bellevue Police Departments hosting gun amnesty day

The Omaha and Bellevue Police Departments are partnering for a gun amnesty day Saturday.

Gun amnesty days are an opportunity for anyone to anonymously drop off weapons and ammunition. This is OPD’s fourth gun amnesty event this year. It’ll be the first such event for the Bellevue Police Department.

Illegal or unwanted guns and ammunition will be accepted at the Omaha Fire Union Hall at 60th and Grover Streets from 10 AM to 2 PM, and at Karray’s Café at 35th and Samson Way in Bellevue from 8 AM to 4 PM Saturday.

OPD Lieutenant Shayna Ray says 89 guns have been collected at the previous three amnesty day events this year.
