Omaha carjacking thwarted by girls' presence

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The presence of two little girls may have thwarted a carjacking in Omaha.

Police say a man loaded the two 6-year-olds in the back seat of a car a little after 7 p.m. Thursday and was preparing to drive them away when he was approached by three men. Police say the three men pulled the man away from the running car and one got in behind the wheel and sped off. The two other men ran away.

Police say the man driving the car stopped less than a block away after noticing the girls. He got out and fled on foot, leaving the girls in the car, unharmed.
