Omaha Chamber looking for a specific brand, image for the city

The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce wants a specific brand and image for the metro area.

Chamber President and CEO David Brown says they’ve done surveys that show people’s attitudes about Omaha are generally positive. But those surveys also found that some people don’t know much about the city itself, prompting the Chamber to explore branding.

"We realized really quickly that if we were going to be successful in accomplishing our long-term strategy at the Chamber of growing this economy much more quickly than it has been growing and growing the population base much more quickly than it has been growing, then we’re going to have to do a better job of informing people about what Omaha is all about, so that we can immediately conjure up images in people’s minds when they hear the words Omaha, Nebraska."

Brown says the branding initiative is part of a five-year strategy to “tell a very specific story for the metro region.”

You can comment on the branding efforts at omahachamber.mindmixer.com and at selectgreateromaha.com. At the Mindmixer site, you’ll be asked what words best describe your neighborhood, and what you like about the community.
