The Omaha Children's Museum receives prestigious award

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The Omaha Children's Museum has received a Leading Edge award from the Association of Science and Technology Centers

Marketing Manager Christina Kahler says the Museum won for its homegrown exhibition, Construction Zone. Kahler says Construction Zone was built by the Museum in partnership with several local businesses. The 10,000 square foot exhibit was a kid-powered construction site than ran earlier this year. She says the Museum is thrilled to receive the award, since these types of awards typically go to science centers,"This kind of an honor is really special in our own community to share with the partners who helped us build the exhibit. But it's also really important in the industry." Kahler says they only give three awards a year so it's a really big deal to win this award in the industry as well. She says Construction Zone was one of the Museum's most popular exhibitions to date.

The Omaha Children's Museum opens a new, homemade exhibition this weekend. Kahler says The Big Backyard will feature playground equipment and the debut of the newly-restored Richman Gordman animals. Details are available online at www.ocm.org.
