The Omaha City Council approved Environment Omaha document

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – Environment Omaha is a joint effort between the City of Omaha and Omaha by Design.

Co-Chair Steve Jensen says Environment Omaha's purpose is to create a new and environmental element of the City's master plan. He says the document took more than two years to develop and includes more than 600 recommendations in five sections: the natural environment, community health, urban form and transportation, building construction and resource conservation. He says each goal is accompanied by a set of objectives and strategies. The document was shaped with the effort of hundreds of volunteers. Jensen says these individuals helped bring an Omaha perspective to the City's environmental issues.
