OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A nearly $15 million federal grant will help Omaha develop a new rapid bus service linking Westroads Mall with downtown and major employers in midtown.U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx visited Omaha Monday to announce the grant that will pay for half the estimated $30.6 million cost of the project.
The new service will include stops at the Children's Hospital & Medical Center, University of Nebraska at Omaha's campus, University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Old Market.
The city says it will use eight state-of-the-art vehicles to provide the new service along the Dodge corridor.
The Omaha project is one of 72 nationwide that will share $600 million in federal transportation grant money.
