Omaha Health Summit set for October 22nd

The eighth annual Omaha Health Summit takes place October 22nd at the Embassy Suites Omaha-Downtown.

Sarah Sjolie, Executive Director at Live Well Omaha, says the summit offers the chance for community health advocates, faith leaders, educators, nonprofits and business leaders to come together and celebrate the advancements in community health over the past year.

Sjolie says there will be several guest speakers that day including Judy Martin, Deputy Health Director for Nebraska Health and Human Services.

"We have Sarah Schramm, a registered dietician from the Douglas County Health Department, talking about most recent survey that’s been conducted on food fragile areas within Omaha. We will have Brenda Council with us from the Women’s Fund of Omaha talking about the Adolescent Health Project and how different organizations can have a role in helping to educate our community on sexual health and literacy.”

Sjolie says this summit is going to be important because Live Well Omaha will be releasing data from its community health needs survey.

She says the information was collected from more than 3000 residents in the community.  Sjolie says the survey shows what health issues are bothering residents and what they perceive to be the most pressing health issues.
