Omaha, NE – The 7th annual Nebraska Disaster Behavioral Health Conference takes place July 16th at the downtown Embassy Suites.
Robin Zagurski is a Social Worker for UNMC's Department of Psychiatry. She says the training that's provided at the conference is geared toward health professionals and first responders. Zagurski says sessions will focus on trauma, loss and violence.
Guest speakers include James Cawood, who will talk about ways to prevent and respond to violence in a business or school setting, and Dr. Roosevelt Clerisme, a Haitian-American psychiatrist who responded to the Haiti quake within the first 24 hours. Dr. Clerisme will talk about his recommendations for changes that need to occur to the mental health system in Haiti.
