Omaha hosting four budget forums

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – Four upcoming forums give the public a chance to weigh in on Omaha's 2012 budget.

Mayor Jim Suttle's office announced Thursday that budget forums will be held prior to the City Council's vote on the 2012 spending plan. The forums are July 27th at Common Ground Community Center in Elkhorn, July 28th at Westside High School, August 1st at North High School, and August 3rd at South High School. Each forum begins at 7pm.

The $730 million dollar 2012 budget contains no deficit and no tax increases. The budget accounts for 24 fewer firefighters and nine fewer police officers. A public hearing is set for August ninth.
