Omaha issues snow emergency

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – Five to seven inches of snow had fallen in eastern Nebraska Monday morning as a winter storm continues to move through the area.

A snow emergency is in effect in Omaha as of midnight. Since Tuesday is an odd-number day, all residents living east of 72nd Street must park their vehicles on the odd-number side of the street.

13 private contractors are working to clear residential areas in Omaha, while Public Works crews are plowing and applying de-icing material on main streets.

Extreme caution is urged if you're traveling. Both the Nebraska Department of Roads and Iowa Department of Transportation report snow and ice covered roads in the metro area.
