Omaha, NE – The cities of Omaha and Lincoln will receive funds from the Department of Energy to create a Retrofit Ramp-Up Program.
Omaha's Sustainability Coordinator, Kristi Wamstead-Evans, says the funds will be used for comprehensive building retrofits, including residential, public and commercial. Wamstead-Evans says the goal of the Omaha Lincoln Retrofit Ramp-Up Program is market transformation. That includes having a qualified work force that can deliver green technology and entrepreneurs that are producing eco-friendly products.
Though the up front costs will be higher, Wamstead-Evans says over time, consumers will save on energy costs. More details on the program will be announced next month.
