Omaha man sentenced to life in prison in drug dealer's death

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — An Omaha man has been sentenced to life in prison for a man's death during a July 2014 robbery.

The Omaha World-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1XxBLtg ) that Douglas County District Judge Greg Schatz sentenced 20-year-old Jaquez Clifton for the fatal shooting of 59-year-old Frank "Red" Sanders.

Clifton was in the back bedroom of an Omaha home with Sanders and another man when Sanders was shot during a drug transaction that turned into a robbery.

Clifton's attorney argued that two men had pinned the shooting on Clifton and were not credible witnesses. She argued that the pair coordinated their stories.

Clifton was found guilty of first-degree murder and a weapons count by a Douglas County jury in September.
