Omaha mayor names Spencer Danner community affairs manager

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A U.S. Army veteran and longtime volunteer has been named Omaha's new community affairs manager.

Omaha television station KETV reports that Spencer K. Danner Junior will fill the position, which combines two former staff positions — community liaison and community outreach director.

Mayor Jean Stothert announced Danner's hiring on Wednesday.

Danner most recently worked as a community reinvestment officer with Mutual of Omaha Bank and serves on the Omaha 100 Board of Directors.

His extensive volunteer history includes work for Habitat for Humanity, Family Housing Advisory Services and the Urban League of Nebraska.

In December, Stothert appointed Danner as a founding member of the Omaha Municipal Land Bank, where he was elected treasurer. He's since resigned the post, and Stothert is expected to appoint a replacement soon.
