Omaha named among top ten affordable cities for renters

Omaha has been named to Kiplinger’s list of the ten most affordable big cities for renters.

The finance publication released its list last week. Cities that made the list were chosen based on living expenses relative to what renters earn.

Andrea Browne of Kiplinger says Omaha was chosen as the ninth best city.

"The average monthly rent in Omaha is actually the third-lowest average rent on our list, at $674. The national average was 899 dollars, so that’s a pretty big difference there. The cost of living is also pretty low, it had the second lowest cost of living rate on our list, at about 14.4 percent the national average."

Kiplinger also recognized Omaha’s arts and entertainment options, and the city’s unemployment rate. Raleigh, North Carolina, topped the list. More information is available at www.kiplinger.com.
