Omaha Navy Week is set for July 14-20

July 14-20th is Navy Week in Omaha.  There are six Navy weeks this year and each one is located in a city that does not have a large naval presence.

US Navy Lieutenant Tim Page, Office of Community Outreach, is the Event Planner for Omaha Navy Week.

He says Navy Week offers an assortment of activities meant to educate the public about the Navy, its people and what they do.

Lieutenant Page says the week-long celebration includes more than 75 outreach events.

"We have the Blue Angels in town.  They will be flying in the Defenders of Freedom Air Show at Offutt.  We have the Navy Band from Great Lakes that will be playing at several venues within the Omaha area, including Jazz on the Green.  We have the Leap Frogs, the Navy’s Parachute Demonstration Team, and they will be jumping in the air show as well as a couple of other venues around the area.”

Lieutenant Page says there will be two more Navy Weeks this year after Omaha, one in Duluth and one in Baltimore.
