Omaha Performing Arts Celebrates its 10th Season

Omaha Performing Arts’ 2015-2016 season is the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Holland Center and Omaha Performing Arts as a major presenter.

OPA Executive Director Joan Squires, says Omaha Performing Arts is excited about the season which features seven series and lots of special performances. 

Everything kicks off October 16th with the Celebrate 10 gala starring singer Kristen Chenowith. 

Squires says Chenowith will perform with a number of local organizations.

"A day later on October 17th we are actually going to host a free daylong festival for the community called Holland Stages with performing spaces throughout the Holland Center.  All kinds of artists and performers of national and international renowned will be there.  That includes the dance company Bandaloop performing an aerial dance on the outside wall of the Holland Center on the east side.”

Squires says this year’s Broadway series will feature Kinky Boots, Dirty Dancing and Disney’s Newsies

Other season highlights include performances by Dee Dee Bridgewater and Irwin Mayfield, the Celtic Tenors, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
