Omaha Performing Arts Celebrates State's 150th with Nebraska in Motion

Omaha Performing Arts is celebrating Nebraska’s 150th anniversary through dance on Saturday, September 23rd at 7:00 p.m.

The program, called Nebraska in Motion, will feature performances by 14 different dance companies from around the state.

Taylor Wyatt, Community Engagement Assistant at OPA, says the groups feature a variety of ages and styles.

Wyatt says each dance ensemble will demonstrate what Nebraska means to them, through dance.

She says dance styles represented on the program will include everything from tap and modern dance to Mexican folklorico and belly dancing.

"Some groups we’ve worked with before in the past but others are different diverse and cultural groups around Nebraska.  And they did each come up with their own choreographed number for the performance.  And either one to celebrate Nebraska or one that they had choreographed and just wanted to showcase their style and what their dance company does.”

Nebraska in Motion is onstage at the Orpheum Theater Saturday, September 23rd at 7:00 p.m.
