Omaha, NE – Omaha Performing Arts kicks off its fifth season on October 4th with a performance by singer Michael Bolton.

Joan Squires, President of Omaha Performing Arts, says some of the highlights this year include The Nutcracker performed by the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein and a performance by the Alvin Ailey Dance Company.

Squires says Dee Dee Bridgewater will bring her celebration of Billie Holiday to the Jazz series this fall. She says vibraphonist Stefon Harris will perform with his group Blackout on the series as well. Squires says the series is rounded out with one of the top performers of the entire season, "And that will be the appearance by Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. They don't often go on tour so we are pleased they will be part of this series."

Squires says one of the changes this year is the classical series which has been renamed classical now. She says the series will spotlight more crossover artists.

Season tickets and program information are available online at omahaperformingarts.org.
