Omaha Performing Arts reveals season offerings for 2017-2018

The goal of any Omaha Performing Arts season is to bring the greatest performers and performances to Omaha.

Joan Squires, President of OPA, says the new 2017-2018 season is no different.  Subscribers can choose from a variety of series including dance, jazz and family.

Squires says this season includes Hip Hop Nutcracker, B-The Underwater Bubble Show, Arturo Sandoval with the Dear Diz tour, celebrating the 100th birthday of Dizzy Gillespie, and a program called “Seven Things I’ve Learned: An Evening with Ira Glass.”

Squires says by far the most buzzed about series is Broadway.  She says none of the shows that are coming in the new season have been in Omaha before.

"From “Finding Neverland,” Disney’s The Little Mermaid, the hit Broadway show “Waitress,” Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The King & I” and “An American in Paris,” which is a new musical.  It’s based on the movie but is a brand new production.  Returning to home for the fourth time is that beloved blockbuster “Wicked”.

Squires explains that “Wicked” is an add on show you can get as a subscriber.

And anyone who subscribes to a series for the coming season will have first access to the following season which will include the Broadway smash, “Hamilton.”
