Omaha police say tipster led police to escaped prison inmate

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha police say an anonymous tip led officers to the location of an inmate who escaped from a Lincoln prison last week.

The Omaha Police Department said in a news release Thursday that the Crime Stoppers tip helped officers from several agencies find and arrest Timothy Clausen without incident in northeast Omaha a little after 6 p.m. Wednesday. A loaded handgun was found later near where Clausen had been sitting in the residence.

He and 37-year-old Armon Dixon escaped Friday from the Lincoln Correctional Center. Dixon was captured Saturday in Lincoln. Clausen is serving a 50-year sentence for sexually assaulting a child and up to five years for tampering with a juror.

The department says the total reward will be $7,500 for the anonymous tipster.
