Omaha police: Woman shot by 2 officers dies at hospital

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha police say a woman has died after being shot by two officers who say she threw a knife and lunged toward one of them.

A grand jury will evaluate the actions of officers Emilio Luna and Matthew Digilio in 39-year-old Tiffany Terry's death as required by state law.

The city's police chief says he believes the shooting was justified based on the circumstances of the Tuesday incident.

Authorities say five officers responded to report of an assault at a home. Police say Terry had three knifes with her when she confronted Luna on her front porch and lunged at him.

Officers and witnesses say Terry ignored officers' commands to drop the knife. They say Luna and Digilio fired when Terry threw a knife at Luna.

She was taken to a hospital, where officials say she died Thursday.
