Omaha polls errors affect about 50 ballots

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Errors by workers at two Omaha polling places saw about 50 ballots handed out missing pages that held minimum wage and Omaha Public Schools bond issue proposals.

Douglas County Election Commissioner Dave Phipps said Tuesday evening that a poll worker in northeast Omaha mistakenly handed out only one page of a two-page ballot to about 40 voters earlier in the morning.

A similar mistake by a poll worker at southeast Omaha precinct affected about 10 voters.

Phipps says the mistake was corrected after a voter called his office.

Phipps says there is no remedy for those affected voters, because their ballots have already been cast.

State Sen. Jeremy Nordquist, a spokesman for the minimum wage campaign, said Tuesday he is concerned about the polling place errors.
