Omaha Public Schools students debate Election issues

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – Where do high school students stand on energy policy? What about the environment, the economy and education?

Seven students from Omaha's high schools debated those issues last week during a mock Presidential debate. The students, acting as candidates, discussed how they would handle the No Child Left Behind Act, alternative energy, and the economic bailout plan.

The student Presidential candidates were: Abby Kreie, Benson High School; Jenna Jones, Bryan High School; Alex Soloman, Burke High School; Luke Hawbaker, Central High School; Justin Asuncion, North High School; Garrett Fosmer, Northwest High School; and Doris Guerrero, South High School.

You can hear the Student Presidential Debate Tuesday at Seven PM on Omaha Public Radio.
